Jane Iredale Smooth Affair® Facial Primer & Brightener

You’re going to want to remember that name because this is a pretty amazing product. Let me be honest here. I’d had Smooth Affair for a while but because I was using several things it got a little lost in the mire. The last few weeks I’ve only been using a handful and this was one of them. I highly recommend this practice, by the way.

HOW I USE IT

THE-YOUOLOGIST

Concealer is now a daily go-to for the shadows on my face (which are getting more numerous!) I follow up with a mixture of Smooth Affair and BB cream. Technically one goes before the other but I’m lazy and mix the two together.

WHY WE RATE IT

I was going about my day (as we do) when I noticed my skin had a ‘light’ to it. This was particularly noticeable when I had to go on camera for ‘Lives’. You naturally look at yourself to make sure your hair’s OK and that you’re positioned well. But – to be honest? – you can’t really escape looking at yourself when you film and I kept noticing it was like my skin was lit from within.🙂

Then it hit me – it’s the Jane Iredale Smooth Affair. It really makes a difference.

I recommend pairing it with Jane’s Glow Time BB cream (left).

BB creams are wonderful apply-and-go tools and this one gives a velvety texture. The Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream (phew! that is the entire name) is also a multi-tasker. It combines moisturiser, concealer, sunscreen and moisturiser in one tidy package which sold me. The way it adjusts to your natural skin tone to help cover blemishes, minimise pores and disguise wrinkles is also fabulous. (I’m ordering a bucket!) Apple, bitter orange and honeysuckle extracts, aloe leaf juice, sunflower seed oil and vitamin E – the ingredient list reads like a cocktail. 🙂

Jane Iredale products are iconic these days and were one of the first ‘clean’ makeup ranges.

“I was inspired to create a makeup that was also good for the skin.” – Jane Iredale

Jane Iredale

She – Jane – created them back when she was a makeup artist in movies or television from memory. So Jane really does exist. That’s her to the right. Ah, I just looked it up. Jane’s a Londoner who moved to New York City and was a casting director working with actors and models. Here’s the full story.

SMOOTH AFFAIR KEY BENEFITS

  • Mineral science nourishes the skin.

It’s available in normal and oily versions. FYI I have normal. I didn’t realise that about the pore technology that probably helped with what I was noticing as well.
