Eat the rainbow with a nice dose of protein (about a fist-sized) every time...this has some soybeans on top but that's not quite enough. Adding some tofu if you're plant-based like us or salmon would amp it up. Lots of gut-loving fibre here and good fats from the avo. Delish.

Yummy. 😋😋😋 There's nothing like a nice bowl of oatmeal to start the day off right. Ayurveda will tell you it's very grounding. It sets you up for the day with satiety, protein (especially depending on which milk you use - we like soy and almond) and all-important fibre. The cinnamon helps stabilise blood sugar too as will doing something active - a walk or vacuuming - not long after you eat. And you want blood sugar to be on an even keel for your weight, your health and your meno symptoms.

Eat the rainbow! Truly, the more colour and fibre you can eat the better off you'll be. Plus it's not so much 'you are what you eat' these days, but more 'you are what you absorb'. Because a lot of us absorbing nutrients from our food well.

This means you need great gut health and one way to support this is to eat plenty of fibre from fresh fruit and veg. Our gut loves prebiotic fibre which helps feed the good bacteria in our microbiome. Plus it helps you poop more (super important for weight, meno symptoms, skin and overall health - just sayin'). 

And see those walnuts there? They're rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids which every meno body needs. 👊🥦🥬🥑🥕

YAY TGIF! We had Mental Health Day this week which served to highlight the importance of how crucial you-time is. Self-care isn't woo it's super important and never more so than in perimenopause. At this time we need to try and keep our stress hormone cortisol lower (it naturally rises) and nurture our central nervous system. This will help you navigate the mood swings, the rage and the anxiety/depression if you experience any of them. So your prescription? Do something you love like soaking in the bath (Epsom salts rocks as it gives you a nice dose of magnesium) and reading something inspiring or uplifting.

Drinking water can be more challenging when the temperature’s low so flavour it up and have it lukewarm - it helps with energy, stuck poop, skin issues, mood swings, headaches - all the things! I find around 2 litres per day is a sweet spot. You might thrive on more if you’re  seriously active. 💧

Eat the rainbow for your best perimenopause and beyond. Truly, most people don't get enough fibre and fresh fruit and veg are full of it. The fibre will give you a healthier gut so you absorb nutrients better and a healthy body goes a long way to giving you a calmer mind, body and soul and then a less symptomatic peri. True story. A simple trick to serve up delicious, nutrient-dense food that wows.

Simply slice up gorgeous colours of the rainbow, pop them on an oven tray prepared with baking paper, crack some Himalayan salt over them and cook at about 180 degrees C for 30-40 minutes.

Do you think about the cleaning products you use? They can be full of xenoestrogens and endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) that can mimic your body's estrogen and disrupt the detoxification process. Turmeric (pictured) is part of the ginger family and the curcumin component in it has been shown to help with inflammatory conditions and even arthritis pain. Curcumin gives turmeric the yellow colour you see in some curries or - say - a turmeric latte. Depression in peri/menopause is common though some experts say it's separate to clinical depression. It's also been postulated that if you've experienced depression before it can come back magnified. Some are calling for it to become a subtype of depression i.e. perimenopausal depression. Another term to being touted is Menopausal Mood Disorder.
